You’ve heard of the big bang theory? You know, where physical reality comes form nothing. If you buy into this then the rest of what I have to share is not for you. Just leave now. But, if you are ready to except some cold hard facts then read on.
I have been in the Home based business over ten years. I have tried it all and let me tell you – success is not easy and it does not happen over night. I have gone to college, worked in the high end food service industry, owned three different brick and mortar companies, and have been in the corporate business world.
None of it just happened.
Every area cost money and time. Lots of it.
- College was nine years and six figures.
- High end service in French and Italian restaurants – lots of time and training. (I was in the top five percent of servers earning in excess of $60,000 a year.)
- Owned companies that earned very comfortable six figure revenues.
- Formed corporations that offered others income.
I don’t say this to boast or to say how great I am, but to tell you that each of these required time, lots of time. Businesses require time, period. Time and dedication that leaves little else to be pursued.
Take just a moment to say – Home Based Business. Did you hear what you said? Even if you did not say it out loud, you heard it in your mind.
BUSINESS
The word business means work. Life is a business. Businesses don’t just happen.
While I was in college and mastering the art fine dining, while running businesses and creating corporations I had no time. What I mean is I had no personal time, no time for sailing (my first love), no time for the beach, no time for family, no time for coaching soccer, no time for my love of art, I had no time.
If you consider what I have done you see that I am not twenty years old. Yet over the course of my life I can say there is hope; hope for everyone.
Now compare the above to an On-Line Business. I am not saying that an on-line business doesn’t require time and work, It does! However, I am here to tell you that the time requirement and the end results are worlds apart from what we have come to know as the 40 hour week.
If you were to put in the same time and dedication to an on-line business that you’ll put into all the above activities, or anything similar, you will be where few, very few other people will be.
I take this next line from Dave Ramsey and his financial freedom seminars:
“Live like no one else, so you can live like no one else”
If you don’t understand what that means then read it again and again. When you begin to get a handle on what is meant then read on. Until then, every thing I am saying will be wasted time on your part.
Purposeful Change
Improving who you are and enjoying success in your life, creating a lifestyle requires change; Purposeful Change. What do I mean by purposeful change? That is easy to explain. How hard it is to enact, well that is up to you. Purposeful change is the act of acting on purpose towards a set destination.
Let’s start with a mental picture. Imagine if you will that you are standing on the edge of a very large green meadow. The air is warm and there is a faint haze that doesn’t allow you to see the other side. The grass is an easy three feet high and there is a feather like breeze. The sky is a beautiful blue and there are brilliant, clean white clouds. It’s exciting and inviting.
Before you got to the meadow you heard of all the possibilities. You imagine all that you could have. The pictures in your mind fill you with hope and energy.
Looking off to your right you see there are masses of people walking across the meadow together. You see that there is a path that they are following. They seem to know where they are going and there is little or no resistance as they follow the path.
Then you look off to your left and see a just a few people in that area of the meadow. Some are alone; some are together as couples and others in groups of three, four and five. Some of these groups talk back and forth sometimes but you’re not able to hear what they are saying.
Just then, some people run past you, laughing and yelling and seem to be having the time of there lives. They are giving no thought to the path they are on because it is offering no resistance to their happy go lucky course.
You are inclined to follow the path of least resistance. Up until this moment, you have faced difficulties and hardships either in your family life or personal life and can’t see why you should make life any harder. So you start down the path of the masses.
You are moving with ease and speed, all seems good.
You feel accepted and everything is smooth. With out notice you trip over a root on the path. The others around you go by without saying a word. You get up and it happens several more times. Those with you tell you there is nothing you can do about it. It happens to everyone; you can change what is.
You go a little further and you fall in a hole and injure your leg. You are forced to stop until you are better to move on. While you are laid up you have time to look around and see that those people on the left side of the field are further from view and have progressed across the meadow. They are enjoying some of what you had imagined before starting into the meadow.
You wander if? Had I only started out differently?
Those around you keep saying, there is nothing you can do, you can’t change now. (They are speaking from their own fears.) They tell you the others who are making their own path will never make it across the meadow. They tell you not to consider any other path, it’s too hard, you’ll never make it any way. At the same time you here some of the people from the less traveled area of the meadow call out to you. You want to change. You wonder, can it be any harder? Since starting on “the path of ease” your dreams, the pictures in your mind, are foggy and unclear.
Are you going to buy into what they say and continue
“the path of ease”?
Or
Are you going to rekindle your energies and passions?
You’re at the cross road of life, Again. You’re a little older but are you any wiser?
You have learned that this meadow, however beautiful, offers difficulties and problems. The challenge you are faced with begs the question? Are you going to face the problems? No wants to cross the meadow alone, not if they understand the blowing three feet of grass hides unseen problems.
The right side to the meadow contains the masses. They will draw you in. They don’t want to be alone. Not alone in their own fears and lost dreams. They will gladly pull you into their sorrow at their end of the meadow.
The left side of the meadow isn’t filled with masses. They don’t seem “friendly”.
(But this is not the truth; this is what you’re told by those who won’t.)
This part of the meadow waits for you; it waits for you to step beyond your “false fears”. Once you take the action to challenge your false fears hands are reaching to help you. However, it’s up to you to seek for the courage to act.
Are you weak or are you strong?
Those who have choose to make their own path across the meadow grow from the problems. They embrace every problem as a challenge to grow and be stronger. Their path at first is slow but as they continue and seek for learning from what has happened, what they read and others. These people apply the knowledge to their own experience.
The result?
Greater strength and speed on their path.
“Live like no one else, so you can live like no one else”
People who take the “easier path” blame their problems on circumstances and others around them. You hear them say something like: It was that dam root or why is it someone left that hole there, they, they, they. It is always someone else. This outward pointing at others leads to mental and physical weakness. This way of thinking equals the loss of hopes and the pictures of a better life.
Do you want uncommon success in life? If you want to dream again and can remember the mental pictures of your childhood, get off the path of the masses! Do what it takes! Stop being a victim of the masses mentality! Lead your own life to success!
Nothing in the meadow will kill you. What I mean to say is that the worst death anyone can have is the death of your spirit. We are all going to die! Don’t die without purpose!
